Raw materials and plastics need to be cleaned thoroughly and extensively before they are fed into the extruder. The DRD plastics drying machine from MAS removes materials such as sand, soil and dust, water, and other coarse impurities from pre-shredded plastic fractions. The MAS plastics dry cleaner cleans and dries in a single process, and is also extremely user-friendly and low-maintenance.

HOW THE DRY CLEANING MACHINE WORKS
The plastic is sucked through the specially designed rotor into a cylindrical chamber and rotated there. The fraction to be cleaned is surrounded by warm air, dried with turbulent air currents, and cleaned. Impurities such as sand, soil or fine particles are separated using separation sieves. Heavy particles (eg. small stones, wires or metal parts) are removed via a heavy material separator. In the subsequent second cleaning stage, any fine dust particles that are still present are removed. The second cleaning stage can be omitted for damp materials with a low degree of contamination. The system is fully automatic. Both cleaning stages run in parallel and are perfectly coordinated. The second cleaning stage can be omitted for moist materials with a low degree of soiling. System control is fully automated.
Depending on the degree or type of contamination, the DRD system is used as a stand-alone variant or to optimise (wet) washing systems as a pre- or post-cleaning stage.

SINGLE STAGE OR TWO STAGE?

Dry cleaning of plastic can be done in several ways using the DRD principle. The two-stage process dries and cleans at the same time, for example contaminated and moist films. The material is dried by drawing in air from above while heating it. In the double stage, another cleaning chamber without heating elements can be switched on for just cleaning. The result: optimal cleaning and drying.
Alternatively, the dry cleaner can also be used with a focus on the actual drying and cleaning at the same time. Material with residual moisture content from the washing system is dried here and at the same time any washing residue (fines) is removed.
